About Deloran

We, David and Ursula Hutton, have lived and raised our family on a farm on the outskirts of Cazenovia, New York, since 1969. We raised Black Angus as well as an assortment of farm animals over the years while we also worked at our careers. While our son and daughter were growing up, we shared our home with a number of family dogs—a couple of German Shepherds, a Siberian Husky, and a Golden Retriever. Then, In December of 1995 we purchased our first Schipperke, Ebony Ridge Pompey’s Misiu (Misiu), to fill what now was our “empty nest.” The following year, we bought a “show” bitch, Pine Rose Black Molly (Molly). It’s been a love affair with Schips ever since.

Our introduction into the Dog Show world came with Misiu and Molly. First, we took classes in Conformation, and then Obedience, Rally, Agility, and Tracking. We quickly concluded that Misiu was not meant for the show ring, and he became our house pet. Molly, on the other hand, went on to teach us all aspects of the show world. One of our proudest achievements came in 2003 when Molly successfully completed her AKC Tracking title (TD) which, on top of her other titles in Obedience, Rally, and Agility gave her AKC’s Versatility 1 title (VCD1) and placed her in the Schipperke Club of America’s Performance Hall of Fame. Molly was the first dog that we had ever shown and on which we put Performance titles as well as Conformation Championships both in the U.S. and in Canada.  Unfortunately, our Molly, Am/Can CH PineRose Black Molly VCD1, RE, OA, OAJ, HO, passed in 2008. She is greatly missed.

We bred Molly once in 2000 with Int’l/Am CH Dotsu’s In Command Of It All CDX, CGC (Shorty) and had five puppies—three of which became AKC Champions. We kept one—Am/Can CH Deloran’s Ananke (Ana)—who completed her American and Canadian Championships in short order. In 2001, Ana won Best of Breed and a Group 1 in Canada beating that year’s Westminster Best of Breed winner. She now has a wonderful life with her owner, a music teacher, who often takes Ana to class to entertain the children and help raise funds for their music field trips. Another of Molly’s daughter’s, CH Deloran’s Aphrodite FR Dotsu (Di), produced CH Tumbleweed’s One O’These Days (Nikki) who won Best of Opposite Sex at Westminster in 2006. We proudly watched and cheered from the bleachers.

We had the privilege of learning from a number of Schipperke breeders, but foremost is Marnie Layng of Mardeck Schipperkes in Ontario, Canada. In 2004 we developed a partnership, and we’re honoured to have her as our friend and mentor. Jointly we plan our breedings to bring out the best conformation and temperament within the AKC and CKC Schipperke standards. Deloran and Mardeck Schipperke Kennels share common goals and ethics.

Now residing at Deloran is Am CH Mardeck’s Miss C At Deloran CGC, CDX, RAE, OA, OAJ (Miss C), bred by and co-owned by Mardeck Schipperkes. In January of 2011 Miss C earned our kennel’s first Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title as well as our first Rally Advanced/Excellent title. We plan to train Miss C in tracking and hope to acquire her Tracking title (TD) in the next year or two—which will give her the Versatility 2 title (VCD2)--one level higher than Molly’s achievement. Among Miss C’s offspring is Am/Can CH Deloran’s Union W’Mardeck RN, NA, NAJ (Lincoln) whom we are currently training and competing with in Performance venues and, on a limited basis, in the Conformation Specials ring. In March of 2011 at the Syracuse shows, Lincoln distinguished himself by going over 14 Specials (10 of whom were ranked the top Schipperkes in the U.S.) winning Best of Breed and attaining a 5 pt. major toward his Grand Championship.

Another notable achievement of 2011 came at the Schipperke Club of America’s National Specialty and Regionals in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. We showed two puppy bitches out of our last Deloran and Mardeck American-bred litter of five. Both came home with a number of placement ribbons out of the puppy 9-12 month categories—tops were our Deloran’s Icey Hot (Hailey) taking 1st place and our Deloran’s Crystal Ice (Crystal) taking 4th place in the 9-12 mo. category at the SCA National Specialty and Crystal also taking Reserve Winners Bitch at the accompanying SCA Regional Specialty. Four of the five puppies from this litter out of Am/Can CH Whiz Kid De Turenne ROM and Am CH Delamer Black Ice are in show homes and are making us proud with their achievements.

We’re proud to say that our Schipperkes have consistently placed in the Schipperke Club of America’s yearly Top 10 Performance (Obedience, Rally, Agility) rankings.
Deloran Schipperke’s goal is to consistently produce all-around Schipperkes—sound in conformation, health, and temperament—that excel as family companions and can  successfully compete in varied performance venues.  If you wish you can email directly to Deloran at hutton@windstream.net or use our website contact page to send us an email.
